Wydad Athletic Club assistant coach Brahim Nakach has praised his side’s focus and determination following their narrow victory over Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup.
According to Nakach, the match was a true test of character between two proud African clubs.
The Moroccan giants won the first-leg clash, but Nakach was quick to highlight the quality and resilience of their Ghanaian opponents.
“The game was very tough. The players did their best to win the match, and it will facilitate the second leg in Morocco,” Nakach stated.
“Asante Kotoko has its history in Africa. We knew it would be very tough. We prepared for so long for this game.”

Wydad’s thorough preparation paid off, with their tactical discipline proving decisive. Nakach credited his players for maintaining focus under pressure.
“We had to concentrate throughout the game, which gave us the opportunity to win. We had many opportunities to score more than just a goal, but we have a lot of respect for Kotoko,” he added.
With the second leg set for Casablanca, Nakach remains cautious, insisting the tie is far from over.
“We know Kotoko can be dangerous away from home. We’ll need the same discipline and focus in the second leg if we want to qualify,” he noted.
