The Black Queens have kicked off preparations in Ismailia, Egypt, ahead of their decisive 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against the Cleopatras of Egypt later this week.
The team held their first training session on Monday evening, with 18 players taking part under the guidance of Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his technical team. The session focused on recovery exercises, ball possession drills, and tactical routines, as the Queens adjusted to the North African weather.
Speaking after training, Coach Björkegren commended his players for their focus and determination.

“The energy and concentration were good. Everyone understands the importance of this match,” he said.
The remaining squad members are expected to join camp shortly, completing the team ahead of Wednesday’s final training session.

Ghana will play Egypt in the first leg of the qualifier on Thursday, October 23, at the Ismailia–Suez Canal Stadium, before hosting the return fixture five days later at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Queens will be aiming to secure an early advantage as they continue their quest for qualification to the 2026 WAFCON.
