The Pharaohs hold the record for the most titles won in Africa's flagship football cxompetition with seven final triumphs.
Egypt also holds the record for hosting the tournament more times than any other country, having staged the event five times, with the latest being in 2019.
The Egyptian national team, the runner-up in the last edition in 2021, aims to reclaim continental glory and return to the winner's podium, which it hasn't reached since the 2010 edition in Angola.
The seven-time winners have been placed in Grpup B to face Mozambique, Ghana, and Cape Verde.

The Egyptian Football Association appointed Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria as the head coach of the national team in July 2022. The 53-year-old coach seeks to lead the Egyptian team to its eighth continental title, especially after reaching the final as the runner-up in the previous edition in 2021. Vitoria's coaching style emphasises intense pressure and direct attacking play, particularly in the first half, while focusing on defensive solidity and counter-attacks in the second half.

Burkina Faso coach Hubert Velud has named the 27 players who will represent the West African country at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Stallions are placed in Group D alongside Algeria, Angola, and Mauritania.
Burkina Faso is set to make its 13th Africa Cup of Nations appearance in the tournament schedule to commence from January 13 to Febuary 11, 2024.
Coach Hubert Velud's team will begin their quest of clinching the AFCON title for the first time against Mauritania on January 16, 2024 before they battle it out with Algeria in the second group game on January 20 and final game against Angola, three days later.

Namibia coach Collin Benjamin has named 28 players to begin preparations in Ghana ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations slated to commence early next year.
The final squad of twenty-seven (27) for the tournament to represent the Brave Warriors will be announced before January 3 as the organizers of the tournament, CAF, requires from all participating countries.
Collin Benjamin is expected to drop one of the players from the team before they enroute to Ivory Coast from their camping base in Ghana. Mamelodi Sundowns top marksman, Peter Shalulile is expected to replicate his sterling performances in the CAF Champions League while leading the Brave Warriors for the tournament.
The Namibian team finds itself in Group E alongside South Africa, Tunisia and Mali.

Head coach of the Syli National of Guinea, Kaba Diawara has announced a list of 25 players for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations slated for January to Febuary 2024 in Ivory Coast.
In-form VfB Stuggart attacker Serhou Guirassy will be headlining the Guinean side at the tourney after a remarkable camapaign in the German Bundesliga, scoring 17 goals in fourteen matches. Captain of the team, Naby Keita was also made the final cut.
The Syli National are in Group C alongside Senegal, Cameroon and Gambia.
Guinea will be making its 13th African Cup of Nations appearance in Ivory Coast. They will commence with a Group C campaign against Cameroon on January 15, 2024 before facing Gambia and Senegal on January 19 and January 23.
