The former Ghana U17 star is on cloud nine after bagging a goal against their city sworn-rivals in the Romanian top-flight second-leg play-off encounters over the weekend

Ghanaian and FC Steaua București midfielder Baba Alhassan says his goal against bitterest rivals Dinamo București was a ''special one'', with his strike proving to be the match-winning goal for his side in the SuperLiga play-off reverse fixtures on Sunday.

The 25-year-old, who was introduced into the game in the second half, netted the winner on the 85th minute to make the scoreline 2-1 for his outfit after his team-mate David Miculescu's goal cancelled that of Dinamo's Stipe Perica own during the first half of the clash at the National Arena.

Nonetheless, the ex- FC Sibiu man, who was once courted by MLS side Colorado Rapids, said his strike was really needed so as to clinch all the maximum points for his side in their bid to retain their league title this season.

''l would like to send Eid Mubarak to all Muslims in the world. It's nice to score against Dinamo, you have great confidence when you score against good teams. But the goal was something special. Passing wasn't an option, so I said I had to shoot. All play-off matches are tough,'' the former Ghana U17 star said as quoted by Orange Sport after the game.

''You saw how difficult it was with Dinamo. Dinamo had a lot of fans. When they play at home you can feel their pressure. And we have a big advantage when we play with our fans in the stands. My colleagues told me to show the supporters' shirt after the goal.''

He added: ''At that moment we don't have the option to pass, so I tried to shoot. They were happy for me (no teammates). Yes, I needed this goal for my confidence. Everyone needed this goal, but I really needed it. We needed the points, it's a goal for us and for the fans.''

Alhassan, who once revealed his strong admiration for German Bundesliga heavyweights, Borussia Dortmund, has so far been involved in 44 games for FCSB across all competitions in this current 2024-25 campaign.

He's yet to earn his cap with the Ghana Senior Men's National Team, the Black Stars on the international stage having been figured at the U17 youth team level by the African powerhouse.
