Heart of Lions Communications Director Eric Eli Adzie has insisted the club are not giving up on their Ghana Premier League title ambitions, pointing to football’s unpredictable nature as reason to keep believing despite a difficult campaign.

The Kpando-based side currently sit seventh on the table with 27 points from 20 matches, a sizeable 16 points adrift of runaway leaders Medeama SC. However, Adzie remains adamant that the title race is still alive with several games left to play.

“In as much as Medeama are runaway leaders, I think anything can happen in football,” Adzie told Citi Sports. “When you look at the number of matches remaining, anything at all can happen. Clubs can falter, clubs can stumble, and others can also overtake them. So we are not out of the title race yet.”

Adzie acknowledged the team’s recent struggles but described them as part of a broader learning curve in their return to Ghana’s top flight.

“The Ghana Premier League has taught us some bitter lessons in recent weeks,” he said. “But we are not ruling ourselves out of contention because once you are in the competition, you must always aim for the ultimate.”

That belief will be tested immediately as Heart of Lions prepare to host Asante Kotoko at the Kpando Sports Stadium on January 31, in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter.

With just one win in their last ten league matches, the Lions face an uphill task to revive their title push. Still, Adzie’s defiant stance reflects a club determined to fight on—and hoping that football’s unpredictability will yet work in their favour.
