AS Monaco, a French Ligue 1 team, has emerged as a potential suitor for Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, who currently plays for Arsenal FC.
Despite negotiations with a Saudi club, other clubs, including Monaco, are keen on securing the talented midfielder's services.
Discussions are underway between Arsenal, other interested clubs, and the player's representatives as the London club is open to doing business with a club that meets their asking price. Thomas Partey's representatives are actively working towards a potential summer transfer, according to journalist Ignazio Genuardi.
Reports from The Athletic indicate that there is also interest from Saudi Arabia, given Partey's contract with Arsenal runs until 2025. However, Genuardi reveals that European clubs are also showing interest, with Monaco being particularly keen. Italian clubs Inter Milan and AC Milan have also expressed their interest in the midfielder.
Monaco is in need of a midfielder and is expected to be active in the transfer market this summer. The club had previously shown interest in Arsenal's Sambi Lokonga in January, but the Belgian opted for a loan move to Crystal Palace instead.
With the potential departure of Youssouf Fofana, Monaco's need for reinforcements has become more urgent, leading them to target Thomas Partey for a fee of £40m.
To convince Partey to join the club, Monaco would need to present an attractive project, especially considering the interest from wealthier clubs in Saudi Arabia.
