Black Stars striker, Jordan Ayew says he never had any interest of playing competitive football when growing up as he loved to play only among his friends and for fun.

He made these revelations in his latest interview with the official website of his club Crystal Palace

Jordan disclosed that, he wasn't forced to follow the path of his dad (Abedi Pele) when he was young so he was only playing football for fun but this is how he ended up developing strong interest for the game.

"My parents always told us we should do whatever makes us happy, and they will be behind us. They will tell us the truth, be honest with us and make sure we grow well. They just wanted us to be happy.”

"I was playing football but I didn’t really want to play competitively in my youth. I was always playing with my friends from our area and against other areas, and that was fine by me. I just wanted to be with my friends after school, I didn’t want to go to practice. Just to live a normal life.”

“Then I got to a certain age when I was 10 where I joined an Under-12s team in my area, and I think that’s where the real love for the game started for me", he concluded

The 31 year old featured in all 38 matches in the just ended Premier League season and had seven goal-involvement for the Eagles; scored four and created three.

Just recently, the lanky enjoyed 80 minutes of action in Ghana's embarrassing drawn game with Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
