The Dutch giants are reportedly tracking the 22-year-old defender in an effort to land him in the summer
Ghanaian and Politehnica Iași defender Mohammed Umar is attracting a strong interest from Eredivisie heavyweights Feyenoord, with his current employers not willing to part ways with their prized asset anytime soon.
The former Medeama SC stopper has been in fine form for the Romanian top-flight outfit this season and is now witnessing admiring glances from suitors across Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.
Given the interest being expressed in his services, Poli Iaşi chief Cornel Şfaiţer has confirmed that the promising defender is indeed a wanted man by many suitors given his impressive outings so far this season, but would not be severing ties with him any moment now.
''I don't hide the fact that I know very well that there are scouts from abroad, from the Netherlands, who are following Umar,'' the Romanian football administrator told Fanatik. ''We are a club that needs to produce, but I wouldn't want to part with Umar too quickly. He still needs Iasi!''
''He is an interesting player and several teams have their eyes on him, including those from the domestic championship. What makes me most happy is that he is being watched. You know very well what scouting the foreign clubs have and how they watch the players.''
''He is an interesting player and I tell you in the most serious way that he is being watched. I think that in the future he will be the subject of a transfer. I see him at a good level, he is a player with good speed, with strength, he works a lot in the gym and he is young, he is only 22 years old.''
''There are some discussions, but it is not an issue right now. Politehnica Iaşi needs income from player sales, but it is not an issue to part with a young player.''
"We'll see if he goes on loan, but I see a bright future for him. There are still 3 important games, I hope he's healthy and has a good run and after that we'll discuss.''
Per his transfermarkt valuation, those admiring his signature are to splash €100,000 on his head before they can land him in the next transfer window, with his current deal set to come to a close on December 31, 2026.
