Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey says he is yet to make a decision on his future at Arsenal, with his current contract set to expire at the end of June.
The 31-year-old joined the Gunners from Atlético Madrid in 2020 and has been an influential presence in midfield when fit. While his early years in North London were marred by recurring injuries, Partey enjoyed a largely injury-free 2024/25 campaign — his most consistent season to date — making 35 Premier League appearances and playing a vital role in Mikel Arteta’s midfield setup.
In an exclusive interview with 3Sports, Partey reflected on his improved fitness and form:
“People are talking about my availability because I was fit all season. Every training session, every match, I gave my best. Injuries are part of the game, but this year I felt great.”
With speculation surrounding a possible one-year contract extension, Partey confirmed that discussions are ongoing but no agreement has been reached.
“The most important thing is being happy where you play. At this stage of my career, my next move must balance ambition, family, and security. I’m an Arsenal fan too, but it’s up to the club, my agent, and me to decide. For now, I just want to enjoy my football.”
Arsenal, who have already released fellow midfielder Jorginho, are reportedly targeting Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi as a long-term reinforcement. Should Partey renew, he could form a formidable trio alongside Zubimendi and Declan Rice.
Since arriving at the Emirates, Partey has made 130 appearances and scored nine goals across all competitions. His decision in the coming weeks will be closely followed by Arsenal fans eager to see whether he remains a key part of the club’s plans or moves on to begin a new chapter in his career.
