Former Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira is set to take on a new challenge as the head coach of Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg, where he will have Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku under his guidance.
Patrick Vieira, a former French international and Arsenal legend, has signed a three-year contract with the Ligue 1 side. The 47-year-old manager had been without a job since his departure from Crystal Palace in March.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining RC Strasbourg, Vieira said, "I am delighted to join Racing. I am familiar with the club's history and identity, the passion it ignites, and its significance to the region, which is a hub of football and devotion."
This news coincides with Chelsea's recent agreement to acquire a majority stake in Strasbourg. The club finished 15th in the French top flight last season, narrowly avoiding relegation by a mere five points.
Vieira brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously coached Manchester City's under-23s and served as the head coach of New York City FC, both of which are part of the City Football Group.
He will be taking over from Frederic Antonetti, who successfully steered Strasbourg away from relegation last season but mutually agreed to part ways following the recent investment.
Having started his coaching career after retiring from professional playing with Manchester City in 2011, Vieira is ready to embrace his new chapter at RC Strasbourg.
