Monday, June 12 was College Athlete Day at the United States of America's seat of government - the White House.
The College Athlete Day is an event organized to commemorate championship teams from all three levels of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition. 52 teams made the trip to Washington, D.C. - including Nathaniel Opoku's Syracuse University Orange men’s soccer team.
Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris delivered a keynote address in the nation’s capital.
Opoku, who plays as a forward and can also operate as an attacking midfielder has been a key cog of the Syracuse University Orange men’s soccer team.
He helped Syracuse to win the National Championship in the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament, scoring in the final before they defeated eight-time NCAA Champions Indiana 7-6 on penalties. Opoku scored eleven goals and fired 8 assists in 25 matches for the Oranges.
In January 2023, Opoku superb performance led him to secure a juicy transfer to English Championship side Leicester City and loaned to Belgian club OH Leuven for six months. Opoku scored his first league goal for Leuven on April 8, 2023 in a 4–1 home win against KV Mechelen.
