West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed his joy and pride after making his debut for Ghana in a recent 2026 World Cup qualifying match.

The 25-year-old forward featured in Ghana's thrilling 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in June, coming on as a substitute in the 88th minute to make a decisive impact.

Although Thomas-Asante started on the bench for Ghana's earlier 2-1 win against Mali in Bamako, he was eager to make his mark on the pitch and did so with great effect.

In an interview with West Bromwich Albion's website, Thomas-Asante reflected on his debut, saying, "I'm feeling good and it was a really good summer. It was really exciting to go away with the national team for the very first time. It's something I've wanted to do forever, to represent Ghana, since I was a child."

Thomas-Asante described representing Ghana as a lifelong ambition and was thrilled to have had the opportunity to play alongside different players and gain a new perspective on his football career.

He said, "To be able to play with different players and get a different outlook on things was refreshing. I really enjoyed being with Ghana in the summer which was really good."

Despite having a break from club duty, Thomas-Asante was keen to get back to work as soon as possible, saying, "I came back from international duty and had a breather, but then got back to work here pretty quickly. I couldn't stay away for too long; I wanted to come back sooner than what my report date was."
