Newly-signed Nottingham Forest attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi has opened up on a possible nationality switch to represent Ghana at the senior national team level.
Hudson-Odoi, who was born in England to Ghanaian parents, has provided a fresh update on his international future amid interest from the West African nation.
The 22-year-old was among the Ghanaian players born in Europe, who were considered to switch international allegiance to play for the Black Stars at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, only Athletic Bilbao centre-forward Inaki Williams made such decision to play for Ghana.
Hudson-Odoi told The Telegraph: "That decision hasn’t been made yet. I’m still thinking it over.
"Ghana is a very good option but let’s wait and see. Hopefully once I start playing games here, maybe Gareth [Southgate] or Ghana will come.”
"It’s a nice position to be in and hopefully sooner or later we will know."
Hudson-Odoi has represented England throughout the youth age groups and he was part of the Under-17 side that won the World Cup six years ago.
The former Chelsea star has already capped three times for England. All of his Three Lions call-ups came in 2019 and he has since been out of the international picture.
Under Fifa rules, the 22-year-old is still able to switch allegiance due to his age and him not playing in more than three competitive England fixtures.
He qualifies for Ghana through his parents and he could still pull on the Black Stars' shirt.
