Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo described his Man of the Match display in Bournemouth’s stunning 2-1 victory over Manchester City as "an amazing feeling," marking Bournemouth’s first-ever win against the reigning champions after 22 matchups.
Semenyo opened the scoring with a well-taken goal, complemented by a strike from Evanilson, sealing a landmark win that broke a decades-long drought in head-to-head encounters with City. Prior to this, the last points Bournemouth had claimed against City were from draws in 1989 and 1999.
In an interview with BBC’s *Match of the Day*, Semenyo shared his excitement: “It feels amazing. Against the best team in the world, we made it tough for them. Everyone is buzzing with the result. A win is a win; we deserved it.”
He also commended teammate Milos Kerkez for his defensive resilience: “His contribution was so important. It was a tough match, but he made key blocks to keep us in it.”
Praising Evanilson, Semenyo said, “We see his potential in training. Adjusting to a new league takes time, but he’s settling in well, and the goals are coming.”
With confidence high, Semenyo looked ahead with optimism, underscoring Bournemouth’s fighting spirit: “We have belief. We train hard every day, and everyone may write us off, but we know what we’re capable of achieving.”
