Ghanaian forward Prince Osei Owusu has revealed his ambition to represent the Black Stars at a major international tournament, describing it as a dream come true.

The 29-year-old, captain of CF Montréal, made his senior Ghana debut in November during the Kirin Cup and is expected to feature in the upcoming international friendlies against Germany national football team and Austria national football team later this month.

These matches will provide Otto Addo with the opportunity to evaluate players ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad selection.

Owusu described the experience of representing Ghana as deeply personal. “It will be a dream come true for me and for every player, you know, if you can represent your country, your roots,” he told GhanaSoccernet.

Reflecting on his debut, he added, “It was crazy when I did my debut last season. This year, I was in Ghana too, from December to New Year. Celebrating the New Year in Ghana with my family was a very special moment.”

The forward, who finished last season as CF Montréal’s top scorer with 13 MLS goals, has already opened his 2025/26 account, netting in Sunday’s win over New York Red Bulls. He hopes to continue his strong form to convince the Black Stars technical team for a World Cup call-up.

“I will just keep performing well, help the team, and hopefully earn the honour of a call-up,” Owusu said.

Before choosing Ghana, Owusu represented Germany at youth level. “It was a longer thought for me, but representing my roots was clear. Players should play for the roots of their family. For me, it was Ghana, and it makes my family proud. It was an easy decision,” he concluded.
