Ghanaian defender, Mohammed Salisu was named man of the match in AS Monaco’s pulsating 2-2 draw against Pafos in match-day five of the UEFA Champions League.
The 26-year-old enjoyed full throttle in the game and was really in the thick of affairs for the Rocks but unfortunately scored an own goal which denied them all three points.
Japanese international Takumi Minamino opened the scoring account in the fifth minute for AS Monaco but experienced defender David Luis equalized for the host thirteen minutes later.
American international Folarin Balogun restored the lead for the visitors before the end of the first-half. With just two minutes to full-time, Mohammed Salisu scored into his own net to level the score.
He earned himself a stunning rating of 7.3 and was subsequently adjudged man of the match after the game.
In a post-match interview, the lanky defender admitted Pafos were a pain in the neck to the game throughout and have learnt major lessons from the game
He further indicated that their next Champions League game against Galatasaray, who also lost Union Saint-Gilloise, is going to be a must win them if they want cruise into the knockout phase
"This is a big lesson for us. We need to defend better in such games at difficult venues especially at set-pieces. We knew Pafos were always going to be threat. We also needed to ensure we took our opportunities at the other end. We're still in the competition, but we must go to Galatasaray in the next Champions League game and get the three points."
Mohammed Salisu will hope for another starting berth this weekend when they host giants PSG at the Stade Louis II.
