The teenage sensation of Ghanaian descent has joined the French top-flight campaigners on a permanent basis following his loan spell during the second half of last season
Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg have announced the permanent signing of English-born Ghanaian teenager Samuel Amo-Ameyaw from Southampton on a four-year contract, the club have confirmed.
The 18-year-old lived up to his expectations during his loan spell and has now been retained beyond this summer after the Le Racing decided to exercise their option of making his loan deal permanent at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
''After an initial spell on loan, the English winger is now tied to the club until 2029. Loaned by Southampton in the final hours of the 2025 winter transfer window, Samuel Amo-Ameyaw only needed a few days to adapt to life in Strasbourg, his teammates and the style of play advocated by Liam Rosenior,'' An official statement read.
''A few weeks after arriving in France, he scored a decisive goal against Lyon, becoming the eighth youngest goalscorer in Racing's history in the top flight (18 years, 253 days). He also kindly agreed to leave the jersey he wore that evening at the club's disposal, as part of the museum trail project.''
''The man, who has been taking French lessons since his arrival, has demonstrated his seriousness in everyday life and his dribbling skills on the pitch. He has made ten appearances and scored two goals for Racing, becoming the second English player in the club's history after Simon Stainrod in 1989. He is now tied to the club until 2029.''
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the London-born talented starlet remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the English U17, U18 & U19 national youth teams,.
