Ghanaian defender Emmanuel Twumasi has completed a move to Polish Ekstraklasa side Piast Gliwice, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The 28-year-old joins the Polish top-flight club as a free agent after parting ways with FC Dallas of the United States, where he made over 100 appearances in Major League Soccer since 2018.

Twumasi, a versatile full-back known for his athleticism and work rate, has signed a two-year contract with Piast ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

“Emmanuel Twumasi is the new player of Piast Gliwice,” Piast Gliwice said in a statement. “The defender with more than 100 MLS appearances has signed a two-year contract with the option of extension.”

The move marks a great chapter for Twumasi as it will be his first in a European side. Twumasi began his career with Ghana's Right to Dream Academy before moving to the United States, where he played for Michigan Bucks, GPS Portland Phoenix, Oklahoma City Energy, and Austin Bold, where he developed his game in both the USL and MLS.

On 19 January 2018, Twumasi was selected 11th overall in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas.

Piast Gliwice finished 10th in the Ekstraklasa last season and are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign under new gaffer Max Moelder.

However, the signing of Twumasi is seen as part of a broader effort to improve the clubs defensive solidity and add pace to the flanks.

Twumasi will join up with his new teammates in pre-season training as the Polish side prepares for the start of the domestic league in July.
