Now I'm happy that our journey together continues and that I can continue to wear the VfB jersey in the future. I want to do my part to continue the successful path and achieve our goals together.''

Sporting director has Fabian Wohlgemuth added: ''Niko is an asset to our squad both on and off the pitch. Thanks to his footballing skills, he can be deployed in several positions, and his attitude is exemplary. With great ambition and a lot of energy, Niko has impressively fought his way back after his long injury layoff. We are delighted that we have been able to retain Niko at VfB."

He was sidelined for the majority part of the 2024-25 football season owing to his injury setback.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Copenhagen-born midfielder remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Danish national youth teams.
