The ex-Club Brugge youth midfielder has sealed his transfer move to the Swedish second-tier side from the elite division outfit ahead of the next football campaign
Swedish Superettan side Helsingborgs IF have announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Asoma on a four-year deal from Allsvenskan side Västerås SK.
The 22-year-old, who spent the second half of the just ended campaign on loan at Trelleborgs FF, is now set to continue his career in the lower division contest after joining the Olympia Stadium campaigners on a permanent deal ahead of the 2025/26 football season.
''Helsingborgs IF and Västerås SK agree on a transfer for midfielder Samuel Asoma. The 22-year-old has signed a contract that runs through the 2028 season,'' an official confirmation of his signing read.
Asoma had this to tell his new employers right after putting pen to paper on the deal via the club's official website: ''I didn't know much about the club, but I played against HIF this season and it was really cool. Partly for the arena and facilities, partly for the supporters who were fantastic. I am very happy to come and play for the club. It's a challenge I couldn't refuse as I now enter a new phase of my career. I am a player who gives everything on the field so the HIF supporters can expect one hundred percent from me every time.''
Sporting director Mikael Dahlberg added to his outfit communications network: ''Samuel has had a very strong autumn in TFF and when we have studied him more closely, it has become clear that he is a player who fits well into our style of play. It is a very confident player who will increase the competition in our midfield.''
The Berekum-born player having migrated to Belgium at a very young age, is still eligible to switch allegiance and represent Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the Belgian U15, U16, U17, U18 & U19 national youth teams.
