Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus shared his thoughts following his pivotal role in West Ham United's triumph against Burnley in the Premier League over the weekend.
Despite a setback where he conceded a penalty that allowed Burnley to take the lead, Kudus demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the match.
"Until the last whistle goes, we’ll keep fighting until the end and Saturday you could see an example of that," Kudus stated in an interview with West Ham TV. He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and belief, especially in challenging situations when the opponent dominates possession.
Reflecting on the penalty incident, Kudus acknowledged his responsibility to bring the team back into the game. He showcased his individual skills by beating three defenders and delivering a crucial cross that led to an own goal by Dara O’Shea, equalizing the score.
In the dying moments of the game, Kudus once again demonstrated his prowess by creating space and delivering a precise cross to Tomáš Souček, who scored the winning goal. "I had to make something happen; I had to use my individual skills, and luckily it worked," Kudus explained, highlighting the impact of his actions on the outcome.
Discussing the team's overall performance, Kudus praised the collective effort and emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. The win against Burnley marked West Ham's second consecutive victory in the Premier League and their fourth in five matches across all competitions.
Looking ahead to a hectic schedule with nine games in 29 days, Kudus expressed confidence in the team's continuous improvement. "We keep improving, and the points are very important, so we’ll build and focus on the next game," he concluded, underscoring the significance of the win after the international break.
Having made 16 appearances for West Ham, Kudus has already contributed five goals to his credit. As the team prepares for the UEFA Europa League clash against Backa Tapolo on Thursday, Kudus aims to maintain his impressive performance and contribute to the Hammers' success in European competition.
