The 25-year-old was billed to seal a transfer deal with the Italian top-flight outfit, but only to see the move hit a snag prior to the transfer deadline day
Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso has hit out at AS Roma following his failed transfer move to the Stadio Olimpico from French Ligue 1 side RC Lens during the just shutted window.
The Rome-based club cited medical complications as the reason to back out of the deal, with his current Ligue 1 employers also displeased with this posture on their trusted stopper.
However, the former FC Augsburg defender could not hold back his frustrations and has labelled the medical reportage over its interpretations as "very irritating" as he believes he is fit enough to play for them given the medical attention he receives from both the ÖFB (Austrian federation) and the medical department of RC Lens.
The 25-year-old stopper was left blowing fuse on his Instagram page: "I am disappointed and very upset by the way the last few days have gone and the failure of the transfer to AS Roma.Above all, I am very surprised by the supposed reason for the cancellation of the transfer. Both the doctors of the ÖFB (Austrian federation) and the medical department of RC Lens have followed me closely in recent years and have examined me regularly. I was thoroughly checked during my preparation at the start of the season at Lens. No anomalies were found. This is why the interpretations of the medical visit in Rome are very irritating for those around me and myself."
A total transfer fee of €25m including add-ons was agreed between RC Lens and Roma over the transfer move of the Ghanaian rearguard - with a year loan stint expected to be taken in for the just started football campaign.
Born and raised to Ghanaian parents in Austria, Danso remains ineligible to represent Ghana at the international level as he's been cap-tied by the Austrian senior national team.
