TP Mazembe lateral defender, Yaw Frimpong has confirmed that he had an offer from a Japanese club as of last season, but his club's outfit refused to sanction the deal.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko right full back has been an integral member of the Lubumbashi based club since he moved to DR Congo in 2012.
The 29-year-old's impressive performance has earned him more contract deals with many suitors in their attempt to price him away from his side for the past three seasons - with the latest offer coming from Japan.
Though, Frimpong still remains defiant about his possible future move out of the five-time African Champions League winners, but will not be in haste to call time soon with the Ravens.
Yaw Frimpong popularly called "father" within the sports circle in Ghana, told Kumasi-based radio station ASH FM in an exclusive interview from his Congo base: "Yes,there was an interest from Japan as of last season. The move for the deal couldn't materialise due to some circumstances beyond my control. The club owner (Moise Katumbi) was unwilling to sanction the deal as he expressed his desire to keep hold of me."
He added: "But anything could be possible in the near future.I have served TP Mazembe for quite long and I'll be willing to move on with my career when the right time arrives.I'm not going to push for any unceremoniously departure from Mazembe at all."
Yaw Frimpong together with his Ghanaian compatriots will be in action when his side take on Medeama SC in their opening Caf Confederations cup group stage matches on Sunday at Lubumbashi, Congo.
