Ernest Nuamah was on the brink of completing a last-minute transfer from Olympique Lyonnais to Fulham, but the deal ultimately fell through, and L’Équipe has revealed why.

Initially, the Ghanaian winger, 20, was expected to join Everton, a club that OL owner John Textor is in negotiations to acquire. According to Foot Mercato, Nuamah had even agreed to terms with Everton, only for Fulham to make a late attempt to hijack the deal.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Fulham and Lyon had reached an agreement, but later added that the deal was on the verge of collapse due to "new issues." It has now been confirmed that the transfer is officially off.

L’Équipe has shed light on the situation, revealing that it was Nuamah himself who refused to move to Craven Cottage. The publication reports that the player decided to stay at Lyon, particularly because the Ligue 1 club had not secured a replacement for him. “He loves Lyon,” Nuamah’s entourage told L’Équipe, emphasizing his commitment to the French side.
