Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has delivered an inspiring message to the Black Queens, urging them to aim for excellence at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following their qualification.

The Black Queens secured their spot with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Namibia, marking their return to the tournament after missing the last two editions.

Addressing the team upon their arrival in Ghana on Thursday, December 7, Okraku stressed the importance of going beyond mere qualification and making a significant impact at the upcoming tournament.

“We have been to the WAFCON before; even though this is a milestone because in five years we have not been there, qualifying alone is not enough. This is the time for us to give the rest of Africa a showdown,” Okraku asserted.

Highlighting the team's potential, Okraku expressed confidence in their ability to clinch the African championship. He acknowledged the Black Queens' historical second-place finish in the AFCON and emphasized their quality as a team.

“Our best position at the AFCON has been second place years ago, but we have enough quality in this team to be African champions,” Okraku added.

Promising unwavering support, Okraku assured, “Whatever it takes for us to get you prepared for the AFCON in Morocco with the support of Asantewaa the fearless, we will make sure this team is ready.”

Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle applauded her team's determination to qualify for the 2024 WAFCON, setting the stage for an exciting journey ahead.
