The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, expressed his contentment with the fruitful outcome of the administration's decision to invest significantly in women's football.

Okraku spoke about the Black Queens' qualification for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament, marking Ghana's return after missing the last two editions.

Addressing the achievement on Thursday, December 7, Okraku highlighted the administration's commitment to supporting and investing in women's football, aiming to ensure respect and recognition for everyone involved in the sport.

"Months ago we took a decision to support and invest in Women’s football and also to ensure that everybody who loves the sport gets the needed respect and recognition.

"That singular decision brought us Nora Häuptle, you all together and had yielded these results. Thanks to you for achieving this feat; Ghana is proud and shall surely reward you," Okraku remarked.

He emphasized the significance of unity and mutual encouragement within the football community, stating, "I have always said when we stay together and encourage each other in good and bad times, we will come out with flying colors."

Okraku revealed that the vision was to qualify for WAFCON, and the team's success had garnered significant attention, making them a focal point in the football community.

"This feat is going to open doors for you as players and the younger folks who are thinking of pursuing a career in football," he added.

The 2024 Women’s AFCON is scheduled to take place in Morocco next year, providing the Black Queens with an opportunity to leave a mark as they return to the tournament.
