Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has responded to criticisms regarding his performances with the Ghana national team, emphasizing that expectations remain high for all players donning the Black Stars jersey, regardless of age.
The Leicester City star, often a subject of scrutiny from some fans, has faced allegations of being selected due to his connection with Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Okraku.
In an interview with South Africa's Soccer Laduma, the 19-year-old clarified that such criticism doesn't bother him, considering himself a young player with ample opportunities ahead in the national team.
“This criticism doesn't really get to me because I am just a young boy coming up, and I feel there will be more opportunities with the national team to come,” he stated.
Issahaku highlighted that national team expectations remain consistent for all players, emphasizing, “It's the national team, it's not like at the club level even if you are five years old, they will expect more from you.”
Since joining Leicester City on loan from Sporting at the season's start, the former Dreams FC attacker has showcased his transformative skills, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 15 games in the Championship.
