The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is currently awaiting the verdict from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following their recent inspection of the Accra and Cape Coast stadiums for the upcoming 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Sources from JoySports indicate that CAF inspectors visited Ghana over the weekend at the request of the Ministry of Sports to evaluate the two facilities.
This inspection comes after the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which hosted Ghana's last match against Angola, was banned by CAF due to the poor quality of its pitch.
During the #SaveGhanaFootball inquiry before Parliament's Sports Select Committee on Monday, September 30, GFA President Kurt Okraku emphasized that the final decision lies with CAF. “Mr. Chairman, we are waiting for CAF,” he stated.
“We have done the hard work, and now we await CAF's response. Our experts have conducted their assessments, but I will not comment on their report until CAF speaks.”
As the Black Stars prepare to face Sudan on October 11, they are eager to secure their first win of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, having managed just one point from their opening two matches.
Ghana is currently positioned third in Group F after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Angola and settling for a 1-1 draw against Niger.
