The Black Stars of Ghana will be qualifying to the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in the country’s history and just have to avoid defeat against Comoros - who have been a pain in the neck to them in the last few years.
The four-time African champions after a disappointing AFCON qualifiers campaign redeemed themselves in the preliminary round of the Mundial and are just a point away from making it official.
Ghana in their last game trashed Central African Republic by an emphatic 0-5 away from home in an entertaining game at the Stade de’Honneur in the city of Meknes, Accra.
The Black Stars after the win have 22 points and three adrift second-place Madagascar heading into the final qualifying games and will need just a draw to punch their fifth World Cup appearance ticket.
Ghana’s first ever appearance was in 2006 where they managed to reach the round of sixteen stage. It was even better four years later in South Africa where they became the third African country to reach the quarter-final stage.
However, their last two appearances in 2014 and 2022 have been the worse so far having suffered group Stade eviction in all those tourneys.
The Black Stars will wrap up the qualifiers with a game against Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at 19:00GMT (7:00pm).
