Having endure a torrid time in 2024 with just 2 wins out of 10 outings, the tough-talking manager is unfazed about the poor results as he looks forwarding to making amends in his side's two crucial mundial qualifying games this month

Ghana coach Otto Addo says he is looking forward to bringing positive results against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with past statistics not to be dwell on ahead of these must-win games this month.

After superintending Ghana's unsuccessful campaign during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON ) qualifiers, the under-fire manager still remains positive over his dugout role with the west African powerhouse albeit the poor stats that continues to raise concerns over his future.

Nonetheless, Addo pointed out that his managerial role is not entirely down to securing qualification for major tournaments such as the World Cup or AFCON given the circumstances that at times engulf his technical know-how over his top job.

''For me, it’s not about qualifiers, World Cup, or AFCON qualifiers. Each and every game is important. Surely, I think it’s difficult sometimes to compare circumstances, especially if you have friendly matches or matches where you have a lot of injuries. I know the statistics count, but for me, it doesn’t count too much. Each and every game is important. We always try to do our best. I’m looking forward to this match. I’m really, really looking forward to this match to also bring back a little bit positivity and also confidence to the players. I hope Chad is coming in at the right time and prepare the boys,'' he told 3Sports

“This is football. Sometimes you have ups, sometimes you have downs but most important thing is to learn out of the downs. And even if you have ups, to be criticial enough to look at the improving points,” he added.

Ghana will first play Chad at the  Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21 before facing Madagascar in Morocco on Monday, March 24.

The Black Stars are currently tied on 9 points with Comoros in the standings in group l and could boost their chances on securing qualification to the next global showpiece with victories over the ties this month.
