Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has lashed out at Black Stars gaffer, Otto Addo, for snubbing Ghana Premier League talents in his latest squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
On Wednesday at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Addo announced his squad-list for the crucial hurdles against Mali and Central African Republic in June.
Among the players who were handed call ups, only Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare was named in the squad.
However, after the announcement - Zito has bemoaned his displeasure, questioning coach Otto Addo's selection criteria.
"I'm very disappointed. I question whether performance was the criterion for player selection because if it was, then our local league players deserve better recognition," Zito said in an interview with Kessben FM.
"The coaches' choices seem to validate the concerns raised by some sports journalists about the state of our league. By selecting only one player, and a goalkeeper at that, from the Ghana Premier League, it's disheartening," Zito added.
Ahead of the qualifiers, the Black Stars will open their training camp today at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in preparation for their fierce clash against Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on June 6.
Further, Ghana will host the Central African Republic at the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium on June 10.
