Bofoakwa Tano continued their fine start to the season with a 1-0 win over Accra Hearts of Oak at the Sunyani Coronation park on Saturday.

Skipper Dauda Saaka scored the winning goal after the interval, helping Frimpong Manso get another win under his belt.

The Hunters produced some exciting football, and there were both positive and negative signs noted in the game.

Here we look at the 4 things we learned from the game.

Bofoakwa Tano show plenty of fight in shock Hearts win

Bofoakwa put off arguably their best performance thus far on Saturday in Sunyani.

As hard as the Phobians tried, they couldn't answer the questions posed by their hosts and found it extremely hard to break the impregnable Bofoakwa defence.

The Hunters extremely gave a good account of themselves in the first 45 minutes, and also started the second in confident fashion as Saaka Duada , whose presence caused Hearts a lot of problems, continued to make his mark.

He scored right after the interval to ensure the Phobians will return to the capital with a defeat plunging them in a very tight situation

Koopman has got some work to do

It would be fair to say that Martin Koopman will not have been all that impressed with what he saw from his boys on Saturday, especially in the first half.

A lot of sideways and backwards passes, very little movement in attacking zones, a complete crisis of confidence, and aversion to attempting anything remotely risky.

Whether these players are just bad footballers or good ones playing like bad ones, it is unknown, but one thing is clear, Koopman must get them playing at a higher level than they did on Saturday if he wants to compete for the championship. If they are unable to adapt and develop, there is only one response: replace them.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Kwabena Anane- it showed

From the off, Anane was on a mission, he was making his first start for the Phobians this campaign and relished stealing the show to solidify his presence in the new-look Hearts setup.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t his day; he was pulled from pillar to post by the Bofoakwa attack and rarely played in by those around him; understandably, he found it tough to hide his frustration.

If he was fit, then his performance was dismal and if he was injured, it raises even more questions as to why he remained in the game for so long.

Bofoakwa’s mentality was (mostly) superb

Nobody has ever questioned the ability of Bofoakwa's relatively young squad; it’s their mentality that has been called into doubt on occasion.

In the opening exchanges, they were sloppy and looked out of their depth, but how they bounced back to score a goal in the second half was exemplary. Hearts supposedly the masters of game-management, were left to rue letting the hosts play their game in an atmosphere where many would have crumbled.
