Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the club for providing the platform that elevated his career, particularly his journey into the national team setup.
Speaking in an interview with mygtvsports, Danlad acknowledged that his time with the Porcupine Warriors was pivotal in shaping his football path.
"Asante Kotoko gave me a very big platform," Danlad said. "With all my national team appearances, it was because of Kotoko."
The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who recently parted ways with the Kumasi-based giants, rose through the ranks at Kotoko to become their first-choice goalkeeper. His consistent performances in the Ghana Premier League earned him multiple call-ups to Ghana’s national teams, including the Black Satellites, Black Meteors, and Black Stars.
Danlad represented Ghana at various youth levels and was part of the historic Black Satellites squad that won the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2021. His senior national team debut came while still at Kotoko, cementing his status as one of Ghana’s most promising goalkeepers.
Despite the recent fallout with former Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, which led to his departure, Danlad has maintained respect for the club that helped shape his career.
His comments reflect a sense of appreciation and maturity as he prepares for the next chapter in his professional journey. With interest reportedly coming from clubs in North Africa and Europe, Danlad's time at Kotoko remains a significant springboard for future success.
For now, the former Ghana U-20 star remains grateful for his experiences and the exposure he gained while wearing the Kotoko jersey.
