Captain of the Ghana national team, Jordan Ayew, says he does not believe the team needs new additions ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Asempa FM, the experienced forward said the current squad has earned the chance to represent Ghana at the tournament after a strong qualifying campaign.
Despite the team’s failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, Ayew believes the squad has improved under head coach Otto Addo and is building strong unity.
"I think the players who played during the qualifiers have done extremely well," Ayew said. "I don’t think we need any additions. I believe we have a good team, and as time goes on, we are improving.
“The unity is getting better and everything is improving. I don’t think this is the right time to make changes."
Ayew played a key role in Ghana’s successful qualification campaign, recording 14 goal contributions, seven goals and seven assists.
While he shared his opinion, the Leicester City forward admitted that final squad decisions remain with the coaching staff.
"To be honest, on the technical side, the coach will know whom to attach or select," he added.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the World Cup alongside the England national football team, Croatia national football team and the Panama national football team.
