General Manager of West African Football Academy (WAFA), George Ofosuhene has expressed skepticism about Ghana's prospects of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

The former Premier League Board (PLB) member remarks come in the wake of the Black Stars abysmal showing after not making the cut for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Ghana pouched just three points from their six matches in Group F, which included Angola, Sudan, and Niger.

The past two World Cup qualification matches were mission accomplished as Black Stars ended round two with consecutive victories over Mali (2-1) and the Central African Republic (4-3), which has reawakened the senior national team's possibilities of securing qualification, however, Ofosu Hene still unconvinced.

“I don’t see Ghana qualifying for the 2026 World Cup tournament because we are not doing the right things. Surprises are there for everyone to see in football, sometimes you cannot do anything about it,” he told Sporty FM.

“If you cannot qualify from a group that consists of Niger for AFCON, do you think we can qualify for the World Cup?” he questioned. “Ghana will not qualify for the World Cup.

“If we want the Black Stars to get back to the top, we need to start from Under-17,” Ofosuhene added.

With the World Cup qualifiers set to resume next Month (March), the Black Stars are second in Group I with nine points - Ghana will take on Chad and Madagascar.

In the two decisive fixtures, Ghana will host Chad on March 17, before jetting out to square-it-out with Madagascar on March 24.
