Joseph Yaw Appiah, fondly called J.Y. Appiah, former chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), has condemned president of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku who is also gearing up to bid for a third term as president of the domestic football governing body.
Reports indicate that Okraku might tend to change the GFA statutes, scrapping the two-term limit for its presidents.
Okraku, who contested and was re-elected in 2023 for a second term, would be needed to vacate the position in 2027 under the current precepts.
Appiah lamented his disappointment in his judgement of Okraku’s management, saying, “I’m not impressed. Not at all impressed with his performances.”
He further quizzed why the GFA capo should seek for a third term, as he has not done anything to merit that, as Ghana football continues to be in ruins under his leadership.
"Why should he go for a third term? What has he achieved to deserve it?”
“Are you satisfied with the way our football is being managed? If you are, then explain to me. What is going well with the administration of football in this country?"
“Look at the pitches we play on. I’ve heard we’ve even built boreholes for some clubs, but look at the state of the pitches.
“Has the money been used properly? Where are the boreholes? Are they functional? Who’s responsible for making sure they work?”
