Bibiani Goldstars will need a miracle in Algiers to advance to the next stage of this season's CAF Champions League after suffering a home defeat
Ghana's sole representative in 2025-26 CAF Champions League tasted a defeat in their debut campaign after losing 2-0 to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the first leg tie of the preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium.
JS Kabylie exercised their attacking muscles in the both halves, ensuring them a perfect start in their Champions League campaign as they seek for third title.
The Algerian looked dangerous from the start of the game with Mehdi Merghem finding the back of the net early on, but his effort was ruled out for offside by the referees.
Bibiani Goldstars took over possession in the mid way with Francis Twene, coming close with the opener in the 17th minute but his effort was calmly saved by the JS Kabylie shot-stopper.
Merghem's tap-in of a cross from the right gave the Algerians the opportunity to break the impasse against the flow of play.
Sampson Eduku almost got the home side in right away, but his hesitancy let the visitors get away with it.
Goldstars entered the break behind, even though they had greater intent as the half went on.

Billel Messaoudi was found out by Mostapha's cross after the interval, but his header missed the mark by a short margin, giving Kabylie another chance.
Attah Kumi and Braimah Baah both missed good chances as the home team subsequently applied more pressure in an attempt to get an equaliser.
JS Kabylie, however, doubled the advantage in the 75th minute after Senegalese forward Babacar Sarr tapped into an empty net, punishing the Ghanaians for their wastefulness.
Bibiani Goldstars will travel to Algeria for the reverse leg fixture against JS Kabylie next weekend.
