Ghana's head coach, Chris Hughton, has emphasized the need for his team to pose a greater goal threat against the United States of America (USA) compared to their previous match against Mexico.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mexico, with both goals coming in the second half at the Bank of America Stadium.

During a pre-game conference ahead of their second friendly match against the USA, Hughton addressed key issues observed in the loss to Mexico, including the team's inability to be a significant goal threat. He urged his team to improve in this aspect when facing the Americans.

"To have opportunities, it means you need to penetrate a team and generally there’s two ways to penetrate and that’s working through the thirds or runs behind. They are the two areas we certainly need to do better," he said.

Hughton pointed out that even though the first half performance against Mexico was decent, the team didn't pose enough of a threat to the opposition's goal over the full 90 minutes. He stressed the importance of changing this in the upcoming match against the USA.

“Against Mexico, I said even though (in) the first half, the performance was a decent performance, over the 90 minutes, we were not a big enough threat on their goal that’s what has to change," he added.

The friendly between Ghana and the USA is scheduled to take place at the Geodis Park in Nashville at 12:30 AM on Wednesday, October 18.
