The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a statement regarding recent developments involving the U17 squad, the Black Starlets, and its head coach, Laryea Kingston.
Coach Kingston announced his resignation during a post-match conference following the WAFU Zone B U17 qualifier semifinal match against Burkina Faso on May 25, 2024.
The GFA has accepted Kingston's resignation but condemned his use of inappropriate language and his failure to attend the team's management committee meeting. Additionally, Kingston left the team bus on the way back to their base and has not returned to the team hotel.
As a result, Kingston will not lead the Black Starlets in their third-place playoff game against Nigeria on Tuesday. The assistant coaches, with the support of the GFA’s technical director, will take charge of the squad.
The GFA reiterated its commitment to maintaining a professional and respectful environment for all teams and employees.
