The tough-talking manager is glad the 27-year-old defender has chosen to represent the four-time African champions at the expense of the European nation for international assignments at the senior national team level
Ghana coach Otto Addo has stated that German-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Köhn ''has a very good chance of being at the World Cup'', with the former FC Bayern Munich II man told he ''made a good impression'' in his debut outings during the November friendlies.
After switching nationality allegiance to play for Ghana in 2025, the Union Berlin leff-back has already impressed the technical team of the Black Stars following his remarkable display against Japan during the 2025 Kirin Cup tournament.
And now, ahead of Ghana's friendly game against Austria tomorrow (March 27), the German-trained coach has hinted that the ex-Hannover 96 guardsman is surely a potential squad member to be heading for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico in June this year.
Addo told the gathered pressmen at the pre-Austria press conference at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna on Thursday as quoted by FT: ''We are happy that he has chosen Ghana . He participated in the two friendlies in November and made a good impression. He has a very good chance of being at the World Cup.''
He added: ''We have many good wingers. But I never rule anything out. It depends on the opponent and the situation; we're flexible. You can also play with a left winger who is more defensively minded."
