Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, has expressed confidence that the Black Stars will deliver a standout performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, pledging that the team is ready to “rewrite Ghana’s story” on the global stage.
Okraku made the remarks during a high-profile fundraising event aimed at mobilising resources for Ghana’s World Cup campaign. The event was headlined by President John Dramani Mahama and attended by Sports Minister Kofi Adams and Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem.
Top Ghanaian musicians Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy announced pledges of $100,000 and $80,000 respectively to the fund, which is primarily focused on sending supporters to the United States, Canada, and Mexico to back the Black Stars at the tournament.
Speaking passionately at the event, Okraku said:
“Today, we are very confident that the intangible assets that we have produced over time, the intangible assets that have been put together by coach [Otto] Addo and his team, we will make Ghana proud. We will go into this tournament with our chest up, ready to fight for the strip and ready to change our story. We fear no foe and believe me…Ghana football will speak.”
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, with expectations high as the Black Stars prepare for their campaign in North America this summer.
