Oaks FC, the female team of Accra Hearts of Oak have achieved a historic feat by gaining promotion to on the Ghana Women's Premier League for the 2025–26 season's campaign.

Coach Mercy Tagoe and her ladies extended their unbeaten streak in the Championship playoffs by trouncing Rootz Sistas with a 4-1 victory to book their ticket to feature in next season’s Ghana Women’s Premier League competition.

With just one match to spare in the Championship zonal playoffs, the Ladies delivered a performance worthy of champions, underlining their intent with goals from Victoria Yeboah, Amanda Mills, Fati Ibrahim, and Sarafina. 

Fati opened the scoring with a thunderous shot from a free-kick to give us the lead in the 8th minute before Victoria Yeboah made it two with a composed finish that sent the Oaks FC supporters at the Senya Braku AstroTurf Stadium into jubilation. 

In the 33rd minute, Amanda Mills followed up with the third strike that left the Rootz Sistas goalkeeper with no chance and Nuratu Iddrisu reduced the deficit for the Rootz Sistas in the 53rd minute of the game.

Sarafina sealed the emphatic win with a well taken penalty goal that put the result beyond doubt.

Despite Rootz Sistas managing a consolation goal before the hour-mark, the day belonged to the mighty Oaks Ladies. Their tactical discipline, attacking flair, and sheer determination left no doubt about who deserved the win—and the promotion to the Premiership.

The result confirms Oaks FC as one of the two teams from their zone to secure qualification to the Ghana Women’s Premier League, marking a monumental step just after two years as Oaks FC was founded by the leadership of Accra Hearts of Oak. 

With one more game to go, the team can now look ahead with confidence as they prepare to compete in the nation’s elite competition next season. 

The final match is against Samartex Ladies who also defeated Essiam Socrates FC to join the Oaks ladies into the Premiership. The game will be played on Friday afternoon at 3pm.
