Former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, unequivocally rejects the widespread false claim that he asserted having Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo in his pocket.
Addressing the issue on Starr Chart with Bola Ray, Nyantakyi labels it propaganda intended to tarnish his reputation and undermine his political aspirations.
"I never said that," Nyantakyi states, challenging investigative journalist Anas Armeyaw Anas to produce evidence of such a statement.
He expresses his dismay at the disrespectful cartoons depicting him reduced to a spider with Nana Akufo-Addo's figure in his pocket.
"Ask Anas Armeyaw Anas to produce a tape where I said that. How could I have ever said that? I never ever said that but I saw cartoons of Kwesi Nyantakyi reduced into spider with Nana Akufo-Addo's protruding in my pocket. It was very disrespectful."
Nyantakyi resigned from his roles at the FA and CAF and later received a ban from FIFA following the 2018 documentary.
While admitting to engaging in business discussions with a group posing as investors, he clarifies that the focus was on potential investments, particularly a $2 billion refinery project in Ghana.
“I said that I am a Ghanaian, I know politicians and once they want to invest I can lead them to these politicians and I don't think there was anything bad about that," he continued.
"These are people who falsely represented themselves as large business conglomerates and that they could be a refinery in Ghana, which cost over $2 billion and that is how it all came about."
