Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, secured an emphatic 3-1 victory over Malawi in an international friendly match, thanks to a sensational hat-trick by forward Doris Boaduwaa.
The encounter, staged as part of the Black Queens' preparations for upcoming international assignments, saw Ghana recover from an early setback after Saani Tendai put Malawi ahead in the 15th minute.
But the lead was short-lived as Boaduwaa equalized from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute. She struck again just eight minutes later in the 31st minute to give Ghana the lead before sealing her treble in the 83rd minute with a composed finish to round off a dominant performance.
The hat-trick hero, wearing jersey number 9, proved unstoppable throughout the game with her movement, strength, and finishing prowess, making her a constant threat to the Malawian defense.
The Blacks Queens will engage in two other international warm-up matches against Botswana, and Nigeria before the start of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
These fixtures form part of a larger preparation strategy aimed at helping the Queens acclimate, build stronger team cohesion, and fine-tune strategies ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Queens will take on Botswana four days later at the Ziaida Complex in Benslimane.
The Queens will then wrap up with a game against arch-rivals, the Super Falcons, on Friday, June 29, at the Lanouria Complex in a must-win showdown.
The TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on July 7 for the Black Queens, who will face defending champions South Africa in their first Group C match.
