Former Black Stars attacker, Laryea Kingston has revealed that Milovan Rajevac 'killed' him by excluding him from the World Cup squad.
Kingston played a crucial role in Black Stars qualification for the World Cup in South Africa 2010, the first on the African continent.
However, he was excluded by Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac in his final twenty-three players for the World Cup finals after missing the 2006 World Cup.
Ghana went on to reach the quarter finals, equalling the farthest an African nation has reach at the global showpiece.
Laryea Kingston says missing the 2010 World Cup 'killed' him, as he made up his mind to retire from the national team.
"Milo [Milovan Rajevac] killed me,” he said on Joy News.
“He killed me because I thought that was my last tournament for the national team.
“I was ageing and wanted to focus on my club career because I had done a lot for the national team and it was time to give others the opportunity, so after that tournament, I have achieved everything there is as a player which is the World Cup, so I wanted to focus the little energy I have on my club career, that was the mindset," he added.
Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in the group stages of the 2022 World Cup after missing the 2018 World Cup.
