Former Asante Kotoko star, Sarfo Gyamfi thinks Mohammed Polo is better than Abedi Pele and should be regarded as the greatest Ghanaian footballer ever.
He said on Kumasi-based Kessben FM;
''Let me tell that Ghana's finest ever player is Mohammed Polo. He was too good. He is the best ever. I played against him many times in Kotoko and Hearts of Oak games, and so I know what I am saying. I also played with him in the same Black Stars team. He was simply unplayable. For me he is the best Ghanaian player ever.'
These controversial comments made by the former VfB Leipzig will definitely create divided opinions among Ghanaian football fans who will all have tangible reasons and facts to base their arguments on for any of the two mentioned names.
Mohammed Polo is known very well with Hearts of Oak - where he made over 200 appearances and won many titles and the Black Stars. He was part of the winning squad that delivered Ghana's third AFCON success in 1978.
Abedi Pele however, also achieved a lot and was in the Black Stars team that clinched the AFCON in 1982 and was a teenager at that time.
He featured for series of clubs notably Al Sadd, Lyon, Lille and others including Olympique Marseille - where he won the UEFA Champions League. He was named Africa's best player of the year on three occasions.
Despite all these, Sarfo Gyamfi, who played with all the two players strongly believes Mohammed Polo's talent was unmatched hence should be considered the best ever footballer to come from Ghana.
