The National Sports Authority (NSA) says accountability is now a top priority as it carries out reforms across its operations.
Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah said the Authority is focusing on stronger leadership structures, better financial management and strict adherence to regulations.
Speaking to the media, he explained that the NSA has taken steps to properly address financial audit issues, especially in the handling of internally generated funds.
“We need to follow procedure and uphold public interest,” Ampofo Ankrah said. “We have consulted the Public Interest Committee and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, and we are following the right auditing processes.”
He added that key systems have now been put in place to improve transparency.
“There is now an entity tender committee in place, things that were not there when we took office,” he said. “In the past nine months, we have laid a strong foundation, but we still need to review past actions, satisfy the board on our processes, and continue to seek guidance. There is still a lot of work to be done.”
Ampofo Ankrah stressed that while progress has been made, full accountability will only come through continuous checks and careful review of how the Authority operates.
