Stephen Diyou's first half goal was enough to hand Nsoatreman a well-deserved victory over Asante Kotoko at the Nana Amoah Koromansah II Park.

Not only did Diyou's goal earned his side all maximum points, it also ensured they maintained their position on the top of league with 16 points with seven games honoured.

Here are three things we learned from the game

Konadu building a strong Nsoatreman side

On paper, there is nothing particularly special about this Nsoatreman team. Yet, Maxwell Konadu has succeeded in creating a unit which is worth more than the sum of its parts- and that bodes extremely well for the club.

Every member of the home team knew his individual and collective responsibilities on Thursday, and although there were moments when Nsoatreman relied on a bit of luck, they generally carried out their tasks well.

The confidence he has instilled in the team suggests a bright future; they play a lot with a huge gulf in quality and Konadu deserves the chance to build something long term if he so pleases.

No Richmond Lamptey

Prosper Ogum knows he has one of, if not the best players in the league. When one player is out, another of similar quality slots in, a scenario that’s not afforded to most teams.

However in order to get results especially at this stage, you need your big names playing, and Richmond Lampteyis just about the biggest of them all.

The midfielder was injured during his side’s stalemate with Bechem United last Sunday. His absence really affected the Porcupine Warrriors as they struggled to penetrate the solid Nsoatreman defence albeit a listless performance.

The attacking impetus of the visitors was reduced in his absence and would thus surely need a fit Lamptey to champion their cause this campaign.

Kotoko are still a work in progress

Common logic decrees that any side that overhauls their squad tends to struggle in the early part of the season. Relationships take time to strike up and setups are often subject to change as managers search for a winning formula.

For Ogum's Kotoko who made a string of signings during the window, their performance especially in the first half showed the Porcupine Warriors were a work in progress.

Slow at the back, practically non-existent in midfield and overwhelmed in attack. They will surely need time to get to the top.
