Betwinner 200% Welcome Bonus

Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has made a startling revelation about the U-20 World Cup investment plan, stating that only one member of Ghana’s 2009 squad benefited from the insurance policy tied to their long-term savings.

This comes amid growing frustration among the victorious U-20 players, who feel let down by the 15-year investment plan. Several players have voiced concerns, particularly after discovering that a portion of their funds was used to pay for an insurance policy—a detail they claim was never disclosed to them.

In an interview with Angel TV, Agyemang-Badu revealed that Latif Salifu was the only player to access the insurance benefits.

“Only one person benefited. My friend Latif Salifu got injured, and when he approached them, he was able to access his insurance,” Badu said.

Confirming this, Salifu explained in a separate interview with Happy FM how he managed to claim his insurance.

“We didn’t know our money was being used for insurance, nor did we know it was accessible in emergencies. I discovered this in 2019 when I was injured and worked to claim mine for treatment,” Salifu explained.

The controversy traces back to the $750,000 bonus announced for the squad after their historic U-20 World Cup triumph in Egypt. The players had expected more transparency and better returns from the investment plan tied to their winnings.
