The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed the addition of Dr. Randy Abbey to the Black Stars Management Committee.
This development follows the national team’s disappointing failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after finishing last in Group F with just three points.
According to Asante Twum, the decision to bring Dr. Abbey on board was made after a review of the Black Stars’ performance at the 2023 AFCON, where the team suffered a second consecutive group-stage exit.
“Randy Abbey has joined the Black Stars Management Committee,” Asante Twum disclosed in an interview with Asempa FM. “After the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast, there was a review of the team’s performance. The FA decided to retain Mark Addo as Chairman of the Committee and Akwesi Agyeman, while Dr. Randy Abbey has now been added.”
Dr. Randy Abbey, a member of the GFA’s Executive Council, also serves as the Management Committee Chairman of the Black Satellites.
The GFA’s move to bolster the Black Stars Management Committee signals efforts to address the challenges facing the senior national team as the association seeks to rebuild after the recent setbacks.
